Ferco Multi-Point Lock Systems: Stronger Entry Door Security for Southern Ontario Homes

European-engineered hardware from Ferco (part of the German Gretsch-Unitas group) — four locking points plus the deadbolt, on one handle motion.

Your front door is only as secure as the lock behind it. A standard single deadbolt holds a door at one point — one spot for an intruder to focus on. A Ferco multi-point lock takes a completely different approach, securing the door along its full height at several points at once.

It's European-engineered hardware from Ferco, part of the German Gretsch-Unitas (G-U) group, one of the most established names in door and window hardware. For homeowners across Southern Ontario who want their entrances to be genuinely hard to force, it's one of the most effective upgrades available.

How It Works

Engineered to hold the whole door, not just the handle

4 locking points + deadbolt

The door is anchored to the frame from top to bottom, not just at one spot near the handle.

One-motion engagement

Lifting the handle throws every locking point simultaneously; turning the key drives the deadbolt home.

Delays forced entry

Multi-point resistance stretches a break-in attempt long past what most intruders will risk.

Wide door-size range

Fits doors 79.5", 8', and 9' tall; widths from 28" up to 48".

Original Ferco faceplates

A wide range of engineered lock plates and handle finishes to match your entrance.

Installed by certified crews

Door, hardware and frame installed as one system, backed by a lifetime transferable warranty.

What a Multi-Point Lock Actually Does

Most doors rely on a single deadbolt and a latch — two points of contact near the handle. That leaves the top and bottom of the door comparatively free to flex and be pried. A multi-point lock connects several locking mechanisms to one gearbox, so a single motion of the handle and key throws them all together. Instead of one point holding the door, the entire edge is anchored to the frame.

How the Ferco System Locks Your Door

Lifting the handle engages the locking points simultaneously, and turning the key drives the deadbolt home. With the door fully closed, it's secured at four points from top to bottom — one at the top, two through the middle, and one at the bottom — plus the deadbolt. Because the door is pinned to the frame along its whole length rather than at a single spot, there's no weak corner to lever open, and the force needed to breach it rises dramatically.

Why More Time Means a Safer Home

Security isn't only about strength — it's about time. Most break-ins are fast and opportunistic, and an intruder who can't get through quickly usually gives up rather than risk being seen or heard. That delay is exactly what a multi-point lock creates.

One of our customers captured this on their own camera: an attempted forced entry that dragged on for nearly two and a half minutes without the intruder getting through — where an ordinary door can often be forced in seconds. The clip is a clear real-world look at how much harder a properly locked door is to defeat.

Even Stronger With Protective Glass Film

A lock protects the door itself, but many entrances have glass — decorative doorglass or sidelights beside the door — that an intruder may target instead. Pairing a Ferco lock with protective security film on the door glass and sidelights closes that gap: the film holds the glass together under impact, so it resists being smashed through quickly. Together, the lock and the film harden both the door and the glass around it.

Fits a Wide Range of Doors

The Ferco multi-point system is versatile enough for most residential entrances. It can be installed on fibreglass and steel entry doors, and it suits a broad range of sizes:

  • Door heights: 79.5", 8', and 9'
  • Door widths: 28" through 42", and up to 48"

Whether your entrance is a standard height or a taller architectural door, there's a configuration to match.

A Finished Look, Not Just Hardware

Security shouldn't mean settling on appearance. Ferco offers a wide selection of original lock plates and faceplates, so the visible hardware can complement your door and finishes rather than clash with them. It's a genuine, engineered look — not a generic aftermarket plate — that adds a refined, exclusive detail to the entrance.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

It's a locking system that secures a door at several points at once instead of just one. A single turn of the handle and key engages locking points along the height of the door, anchoring the whole edge to the frame rather than a single spot near the handle.
When the door is fully closed, it's locked at four points from top to bottom — one at the top, two in the middle, and one at the bottom — plus the deadbolt, so the door is held along its entire height.
Yes. The system works on both fibreglass and steel entry doors, in heights of 79.5", 8', and 9', and widths from 28" up to 48".
It significantly increases the time and force needed to breach a door. Because most intruders abandon an entry that takes too long, that added delay is a real deterrent — as one customer's own video of an attempted forced entry shows.
Yes. Protective security film applied to decorative doorglass or sidelights helps the glass resist being smashed through, closing a common weak point and complementing the strength of the lock.
