Why Tilt & Turn Doors
How a tilt-and-turn actually works.
Turn the handle 90° from the down position and the sash swings inward on side hinges like a door. Turn it another 90° to horizontal and the top of the sash tilts inward instead, pivoting on hinges at the bottom for a small controlled opening that vents air without leaving the door wide open. It's the same slab, moving on two different pivot systems depending on where you leave the handle.

European multi-point hardware
Eight to ten locking points engage around the sash perimeter, not just one at the handle. This is where the tightness and the security both come from.

Compression seal, four sides
The multi-point hardware pulls the sash into the frame against a continuous gasket. Airtightness ratings well above any single-point patio door.
Concealed hinges
No visible hinges on the interior face. Rated for triple-glazed sash weights up to ~150 kg.
Thermally-broken frame
Polyamide insulator strip breaks the thermal bridge through the frame — critical for the door not to condense in an Ontario winter.
Triple glazing standard
Not an upsell. The reason the whole assembly is engineered this heavy is to carry a triple-glazed unit as a baseline.

Tilt & turn doors share the same heavy-duty European multi-point hardware as our tilt & turn windows — and the same ability to accommodate the thickest glass packages we offer. On a tilt & turn patio or balcony door, we install a triple-pane Cardinal IG unit as the standard with the option of a P2A or P4A-rated laminated security assembly.
The tilt position on a tilt & turn door is a deliberate secure-ventilation mode — the door tips inward at the top by about 4 inches, letting air through while the multi-point hardware remains locked. Pairing that with laminated security glass gives the door industry-leading forced-entry resistance even while ventilating.
