Glass & Security

Fibreglass slab + Cardinal IG insert

Fibreglass doors have the best thermal performance of any entry-door slab we install — the composite skin doesn't conduct cold the way steel does and doesn't move with moisture the way wood does. That makes the glass insert the single thermal compromise on the door, which is exactly why we don't compromise on it.

Trust Build's standard fibreglass-door spec is a triple-pane Cardinal IG insert with Low-E 272 and argon fill, tempered safety glass per code, and a laminated inner pane on any insert larger than the standard 8x36 lite. The result is a door that achieves U-values in the 0.18-0.22 range — among the best in the residential entry-door category.

Triple pane + Low-E 272 + argon

Standard insert package — matches the thermal performance of the fibreglass slab itself.

Tempered + laminated

Code-compliant safety glass with laminated forced-entry resistance on any larger insert.

Decorative leaded or etched

Available with full triple-pane Cardinal IG underneath — no thermal penalty for choosing decorative.

Impact-resistant assembly

For coastal or rural Ontario properties where storm debris is a real consideration.

Security Window Film: Fibreglass-door glass inserts are excellent candidates for Security Window Film retrofits — the slab is already secure; film matches the glass to it. Learn more about Security Film →

Triple pane Cardinal IG with a Low-E 272 coating, argon gas fill and a Super Spacer warm-edge system. This combination achieves U-values around 0.18-0.20 for the insert — directly comparable to the surrounding polyurethane-foam-core fibreglass slab.
No. Unlike wood doors, fibreglass composite slabs don't absorb moisture and don't move with humidity. The glass insert is bonded into a stable composite frame that maintains its seal for the life of the door, which is why Trust Build offers a lifetime product warranty.
