Brick-to-brick window installation on an Ontario home

Installation Method

Brick-to-Brick Window Installation

Full-frame replacement done right. Old window out, rough opening insulated and flashed, new unit set and sealed brick-to-brick — inside and out.

Why Brick-to-Brick

The longest-lasting, tightest-sealing way to replace a window.

When the existing frame is rotted, the brick mould is damaged, or you're upsizing an opening — retrofit isn't enough. Brick-to-brick installation strips the opening back to bare structure so we can insulate, flash and seal the full perimeter, then finish the inside and outside to look brand new.

  • Full rough-opening inspection
  • Sill pan and peel-and-stick flashing
  • Low-expansion foam on full perimeter
  • Interior casing and exterior finishing included
  • Lifetime workmanship warranty

Our Process

Five steps from old window to finished opening

1

Measure & spec

Full on-site measurement of the rough opening, exterior brick mould condition, and interior trim.

2

Full removal

Old window, frame, fins and casing all come out. Rough opening is inspected for rot or moisture damage.

3

Insulate & flash

Sill pan, peel-and-stick flashing, and low-expansion foam insulate the full perimeter — not just the gap.

4

Set & seal

New unit is shimmed plumb, mechanically fastened, and sealed brick-to-brick with backer rod and exterior-grade sealant.

5

Interior finish

New interior casing, jamb extensions if needed, and a clean paint-ready finish — included in every brick-to-brick quote.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Brick-to-brick is Trust Build's premium installation method: the existing window is removed to the brick opening, the old frame is taken out, insulation around the opening is inspected and supplemented as needed, the new window is set into the original brick opening, and the exterior perimeter is sealed and finished with new aluminum capping. Interior finishes are preserved where possible — it is not the same as a full North American 'full-frame replacement' that strips interior jambs and casing.
When the existing frame is rotted, the brick mould is damaged, you're upsizing the opening, converting to egress, or you want the longest-lasting weather-tight install. It's also required after most masonry repair work.
Yes — typically 25–40% more per opening because of additional labour, interior/exterior finishing and disposal. The trade-off is a stronger seal, full insulation in the rough opening and a longer service life.
Usually no for a like-for-like replacement, but enlarging the opening, converting to egress or any structural change requires a city permit. Trust Build's permit team handles applications when needed.
Plan on 2–4 hours per opening for brick-to-brick versus 30–60 minutes for retrofit. Most full-home projects complete in 2–4 days.
