Our Verdict

If you want the best operable seal and the easiest cleaning on upper-storey windows, tilt & turn wins — and the price premium is worth it for street-facing rooms. For most rooms where you want cross-breezes and the best value-per-window, casements are still hard to beat. Many Trust Build customers mix both: tilt & turn on the front elevation, casements everywhere else.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Casement, typically 20–35% less than a comparable tilt & turn at the same size and glass package.
Casement opens a full 90° to catch cross-breezes. Tilt & turn opens partially (tilt mode) for secure trickle ventilation, or fully inward (turn mode) for cleaning and emergencies.
Tilt & turn — the sash swings fully inward, so both sides can be cleaned from inside on any storey. Casements crank out and can be cleaned from inside, but reach is limited on wide units.
Casement — it opens fully to the outside, which makes it the standard choice for basement egress openings. Tilt & turn can also satisfy egress when sized correctly.
