The grille pattern on this door is true simulated divided lite (SDL): the grille bars are permanently sealed to both the interior and exterior glass surfaces, not sandwiched between the panes or snapped on as a flat overlay. From the porch or from inside the foyer, the shadow lines and dimension read as real divided glass, and the grille never becomes a dust trap between two sheets of glass.
A single raised panel below
Below the glass, each door leaf carries one full-width raised panel rather than a busier multi-panel layout. On a door this size, that restraint matters — it keeps the design from competing with itself and lets the six-lite glass pattern stay the visual focus.
Multi-point locking, brushed nickel hardware
Security on a double door has to work differently than on a single slab, since there are two leaves and a centre meeting point instead of one continuous frame. This installation uses a multi-point locking system engaging at several points up and down the door, finished in brushed nickel to match the long entry-set handles. A black threshold at the base finishes the sightline and stands up to Vaughan's freeze-thaw winters without the wear a lighter finish would show.
